2016, a perfect vintage
In the Langhe region, 2016 is remembered as one of the longest harvests in recent years. The vintage is considered virtually flawless due to the ideal climatic conditions experienced throughout the year, which facilitated the proper ripening of the grapes. Overall, the climate was warm and dry, with summer rains that helped mitigate temperatures. The cool early autumn nights favored phenolic ripening, preparing Nebbiolo grapes for the mid-October harvest, which took place under ideal conditions. 2016 yielded a Barbaresco with incredible fruity sensations that stand the test of time, boasting excellent acidity and remarkable structure. The wine’s exceptional freshness makes it immediately approachable — a delightful surprise for a wine that is generally celebrated for its austerity.
technical sheetThe historic label of Bricco di Neive has been used by Dante Rivetti since the 1970s to adorn his wines, those coming from vineyards located near the winery. Today, the label comes back to life to recount the great vintages of Bricco di Neive Riserva Barbaresco DOCG.
The Nebbiolo grapes used for the Etichetta Storica exclusively come from Bricco di Neive Menzione Geografica Aggiuntiva (MGA), located on the top of the hill overlooking the homonymous village, rising at an altitude of 400 meters.
The pleasure of waiting
Our selection doesn’t follow fixed aging periods. Arter undergoing traditional fermentation with pumping-over, the wine slowly ages for about 4 years in 50-hl Slavonian oak barrels. The wine’s extraordinary character will establish when it is truly ready, and only then is it bottled as an «Etichetta Storica».
